Tile saw blades, and any blade designed to cut porcelain or ceramic tile, are usually continuous rim though some are segmented, and should be of the highest possible quality to avoid chipping, most are diamond coated. Thinner blades cut faster, wider blades are less prone to bending. Softer metal rims are generally used for cutting harder material, while hard metal rimmed blades are designed to cut through soft material.
