Schluter KERDI-DRAIN-A turns an existing clamping ring shower drain into a drain with an integrated bonding flange, for jobs where the old drain can't be taken out (for example, when it is set in a concrete slab). This complete drain kit includes the ABS drain body, the 5-1/2" adaptor ring and a 4" square stainless steel grate assembly, so no separate grate is needed.

Installation / Application Tips

• Remove the clamping ring from the installed drain and keep its bolts. Punch out the holes in the adaptor ring that match the bolt pattern.
• Run a continuous 1/4" - 3/8" (6 - 10 mm) bead of KERDI-FIX under the adaptor ring, set it on the drain flange and tighten the bolts in a star pattern, finger-tight plus 1/4 turn. Overtightening can warp the ring and cause leaks.
• Slide the drain flange into the adaptor ring and support it fully with mortar or the center section of the foam tray.
• Measure the flange height before setting a shower tray; extra build-up may be needed.
• Schluter recommends leak-testing the drain-to-waste-line connection before continuing. Follow local plumbing codes.
