Wedi Building Panels or Wedi Board are much more than a simple tile backer board and offer almost endless installation opportunities. Wedi Building Panel are available in a wide variety of thicknesses and sizes and they are compatible with most any substructure. They are lightweight, internally waterproof, and dimensionally stable, making them fast, clean and simple to work with. The blue waterproof core is CFC- and HBCD free, made from waterproof extruded polystyrene foam, reinforced with fiberglass mesh on both sides. They are coated with synthetic polymer resin mortar, which fully embeds the mesh layer resulting in the panel‘s strength and the ability to develop the highest adhesion strength to virtually any type of thinbed mortar. The embedded mesh eliminates the risk of delamination of installation layers.

Wedi Building Panel can be used with any type of thinset mortar application. Does wedi come in 1" x 48 x 96?
No, the largest 1" thick panels are the 48" x 60".
Are the Wedi shower panels flexible at all ? I have a tight staircase to get around.
Not really, they have a cement and fiberglass coating on a foam core that makes them pretty ridgid.   
Where can I find detailed instructions wedi board installation for tub surround ? especially for installinging the wedi board where it meets the tub flange...
There are a couple of basic video's on youtube, but I would recommend getting in touch with your local wedi rep. They are extremely helpful and will be able to answer any detailed questions you have on the install. Can this be installed on a floor over self leveling underlayment using a modified thinset? Are there limitations to the thickness of the panel when used like this?
Yes, after you set the floor leveler you will want to use a good modified thinset like Laticrete 253. For the wedi board you will want to use wither the 1/4" or 1/2" board, depending on how much you want to build up the level of the bathroom floor.

Unfortunately, this is a European only product. You can however buy a 2" building panel and kerf cut it if you want that rounded look.  
Can you use wedi board instead of drywall and paint it?
Wedi board is designed to be used as an underlayment for tile, not a finishing product. so would not recommend.   
Can Wedi be used for outdoor kitchen countertops
It can be used for outdoor installations but wedi does not warranty for outdoor installation.  
I used wedi board to install glass tile. Can I use Bondera Tile Mat, sticky on Both Sides, TY.
Checked with our wedi Rep. and because wedi board is designed for thinset applications, he suggests checking with Bondera customer service to find out if wedi panels are a suitable substrate for their product. Wedi currently has no data to say yes or no on this.
We are considering your product as a backer for a large mosaic tile installation on a wall at our church. The wall is approximately 16 ft tall by 30 ft wide. The wall construction is CMU. Can you please provide me with technical data about how to "adhere" the Wedi board to the existing wall? thanks Larry Meeks, Registered Architect

if i am using 6, 4x8x1/2' panels what is the amount of glue, fasteners, tape etc needed
General rule of thumb, 1-1/2 to 2 tubes per board. That includes for the joints and the screws/washers. Place screws and washers every foot. For these boards that is 16 screw/washers per board.
Can you put small tiles like a penny floor on wedi board
Yes, you can penny tile a wedi shower base. You would want to set in epoxy and grout in epoxy. Contact your local wedi rep for more information.
Is the Wedi Board strong enough to hold a Granite Slab shower wall?
Yes, wedi boards have about 180 pounds of sheer strength when installed with fasteners every 12 inches. Our wedi rep also advises to definitely check with the slab manufacturers on installation. They would probably suggest a full contact epoxy installation. If you have further questions, give us a call (800) 938-7925.

is this product good for out door application ?
Wedi does not warrantee wedi board for outdoor installations.
I have a shower wall with 3/4 plywood walls, can I use 1/4 inch Wedi board on top of the plywood and then tile, do I need to use redguard as well?
Yes wedi board mounts directly to plywood, no need for another barrier. As wedi states in their install manual use wedi joint sealant on all seams and over the fasteners. Let us know if you have any further questions.
