Is Wedi now suggesting this be used on joints along with the sealant putty? How new is this? Used like Kerdi felt at wallboard to tub joint?

Sealing tape should only be used in conjunction with Wedi sub-liner applications and not on board joints.

I'm installing Wedi board for shower walls on a traditional mortar/ mud base/ pan. Planning on just using Wedi sealant at base. Need anything else?

So do you or don’t you use this sealant tape on Wedi board joints??? This product info and Q and A contradicts itself..

According to the wedi Technical Handbook only wedi Joint Sealant is required between wedi Boards. We have updated our product description to be more specific.

Does it hurt to use this on wedi board seams as a backup over kill precaution? If you used it can it be applied using wedi sealant?

Use wedi joint sealant on the joints then just lay the tape over the joints, no need to then use sealant on edges of the joint tape. Yes, it is overkill, but some installers like to tape the joints.

Can this be used to seal joints on durarock board? An do you recommend do such. Ive been hired to finish a job that someone had started an they had already placed durarock board on the bath tub surround walls .an is it safe an effective to apply wedi sealant to seal the seams .or shall i use the durarock tape instead

We do not recommend mixing brands on a waterproofing project. Best bet here would be to check with Durarock Manufacturer and see what products they recommend to waterproof the bathtub surround. Mixing brands voids any manufacturers warranty.
